There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman; some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there.

My name is Patrick Bateman. I am
twenty-six years old. I live in the American Garden
Buildings on West Eighty-First Street, on the eleventh
floor Tom Cruise lives in the penthouse.
I believe in taking care of myself, in a
balanced diet, in a rigorous exercise routine. In the
morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice
pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand
now.
After I remove the icepack, I use a deep
pore-cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a
water-activated gel cleanser, then a honey-almond body
scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub.
Then I apply an herb mint facial masque which
I leave on for ten minutes while I prepare the rest of my
routine.
I always use an after-shave lotion with little
or no alcohol because alcohol dries your face out and makes
you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye
balm, followed by a final moisturizing "protective" lotion...
There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some
kind of abstraction, hut there is no real me, only an
entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my cold
gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping you
and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably
comparable: I simply am not there.
It is hard for me to make sense on any given
level. My self is fabricated, an aberration. My personality
is sketchy and unformed, my heartlessness goes deep and is
persistent. My conscience, my pity, my hopes disappeared
a long time ago, if they ever did exist.

another thing...

how are we to consider ourselves normal ? considering ourselves normal involves comparing ourselves to others. that may/may not be judgmental, but who are we to judge others? obviously we do it regardless of being told not to, it just can't be helped. when someone is different, you notice their distinguishing differences right away and judge someone in the back of your mind. a lot of the time it's based on first impression. you think you have someone figured out before you've even talked to him/her. i know i do it. but how do you know whether you're right or wrong unless you actually confront someone about whether or not you've judged them correctly. for example, if you see a bum on the street, it's easy to just assume he took the wrong turn somewhere in his life. but you will never know what had actually happened in his life to bring him to become a bum on the streets unless you ask him. for all you know, or don't know, he could have been born into an impoverished family with bad parents who did not raise him as well as they should have. or you could be right, but the truth is, you won't know until you ask. so basically, while judging is wrong, we as humans do it without even thinking about it. this is pretty simple, like that old saying "don't judge a book by its cover," but humans unconsciously do it whether we want to or not.

so imo there is no normal unless you live in some sort of utopia where everyone is born the same or you're one of the clones from star wars.

and to those who read this, don't try to say "oh i'm that 1% who doesn't judge people." well bull fucking shit my ass you don't judge people

I try to act as normal as I can over the Internet. I made some good friends this way over the time (one of my best friends nowadays I met on mIRC some 7 years ago). But I find it hard to communicate in a foreign language sometimes, and I'm not a really good writer :(

But yeah, I'm usually a tongue-in-cheek kinda guy, always trying to have some fun, even with the most stupid things possible. I also hate having nothing to do, and discovered that playing useless games on the Internet wouldn't bore my brain to death, so that's the reason I started playing them in the first place.

Edit: P.S. James you asked for this when you said you love that hippy stoner shit so, whatever - go nuts trying to understand the broken thoughts.

I meant it. That made my day!

"...when you really think about it." are words I try to live by.

I think I want to start a blog (I've started several)... but this time I want to really open up and write what I think, write who I am.

The question that arises in my mind is "who am I?"
Is there a difference between who I am online vs who I am elsewhere? Is it because of differences in pressures from authority and peers? I think I am always myself, but I am diverse in what I talk about, and I know where certain subjects will be most appreciated.
Other times I think that all I want to do is program on the computer.
Other times I want to talk about philosophical ideas, about existing, and about how silly it all is.
Today I stayed home instead of going to the beach with my friends because I had to work.
Who am I?

I don't think I'm normal. I've had someone tell me that they thought I had broken from consciousness by critically analyzing every little thing and I had become something different. It was a little scary to hear that from someone else.

I try to meet many standards, simply to keep doors open for myself. My goals are not conventional, but I try to keep my actions within reason. I see many people taking conventional paths with conventional goals, and some that reject it all convention, but not too many people that blend the two concepts. It's very difficult, and I'm not sure I can keep it up forever.

I am superior because I am aware.

I can be better by saving the world.

you know james i was much the same way in my youth. instead of accept i would ultimately question pretty much any response a person had about a given situation, i had no real idea what identity or individuality meant. thats the whole scape of reality and consciousness, is being able to readily accept anything anyone says even if its true or false. Thats not what matters though.

what matters is what you think is true or false. being able to dissect someone elses way of thinking or state of mind is just not a liberty that should be given to anyone. Thats why most people find it offensive to be outwardly judged in such a fashion. Sure people can say whatever the hell they want, the point is who are you to judge? We really dont know anything about "normality" as it may be, hardly, as we all seem to struggle to simply conform to the society we grew up in.

Constantly holding yourself to society's, or ANYONES standard is ONLY GOING TO LIMIT YOUR POTENTIAL.

These days i am not ashamed nor afraid to admit that i have been smoking weed on a regular basis, maybe drinking some, and still working at at least one job and upholding a social life both on the internet and in real life. Id go as far as to say i may never regret the choices ive made, simply because they have made me who i am today, and i would never want to give that up.

For me to say that in a normal "IRL" situation could not only endanger my families well being but my very own, and perhaps id lose my job/jobs.

What todays society lacks is the ability to comprehend much less readily accept a person for being an individual. we are ALL to prepared to COMPARE and CONTRAST between each other, and all too afraid to admit we are all alike in at least one sense or the other.

Just because i vote for an individual doesnt mean i let them speak for me, or act for me. Just because i like a certain type of music or participate in a certain "occult" activity doesnt mean im any different from anyone else.

Its all about the choices we make, and trusting yourself to be able to live with them. I know full well the consequences of the choices i make each and every day, as far as i am concerned i might as well see into the future - because in the end i know with out a fucking doubt that i can decide the outcome at least 75% of the time.
