You ever check out old topics and miss this place? I do.
I wonder what all the old, no longer active members are up to these days.
Fuck.
When did GB-HQ start up? How long has this fucking train been hanging on to the tracks?

I do too, I've probably been here 4, maybe 5 years now, and the site was still in existence for a while before I even showed up

to me it's pretty simple- you just find something to talk about with others. the place is a ghost town and yet i can still talk about cooking with three other people or herbs with a couple people. i hit up like three other forums in a day and and between them all, have plenty to talk about online.
re: GB-HQ,
i see GBGL-HQ.COM goes back to may 2004. but what was the full URL of the original site, GBHQ? (doesn't seem to be COM, NET or ORG)
if you remember, plug the address into the waybackmachine:

I've had the site since about May '05, Which was about a year and a half after it became its own site. I acquired it by being the only one (probably) to respond to kiwi's request for a new owner. Prior to that it, it was maintained by kiwibonga, and before him it was run by the creator Rizzano.
GBGL itself has existed since early '04, at which point it was a subforum on GBHQ, and a barebones league website coded entirely in HTML by Rizzano. The league system itself was completely manual and actually required users to report their losses via an embedded email form.
There's a lot of shit that comes after that but I'm not up for re-writing the whole history again.

Forums added, subtracted, guild league
Posted by Cazesudo on: May 16 2004, 10:40 PM
The GB Arena and Screenshots forums are now hidden. In case you haven't been reading, here is the reasoning behind it. The GB Arena was used for events, contests, tournaments, leagues, and guilds. Well, our events page is now up, and you can submit your event, contest, tournament, or league in this thread. We're also working on a guilds' page that would be on the main site. So, that pretty much makes the GB Arena obselete. As for the screenshots forum, I think most of the regulars here can agree, we've seen all there is to see in screenshots. There has been a million telefalls, "pros" getting beat, SS pictures, damage pictures, stacked teams, botters, glitches, etc screenshots. If you feel you have a screenshot that is rare and spectacular that no one has seen before, post it in the General GB forum. However, posting screenshots that are common will lead to warnings.
We're also proud to announce a new partnership with the Gunbound Guild League, run by Rizzano. We've made a forum section for the league, and we'll also be helping out where we can with the construction of it. Rizz can probably tell you more about this, I'll have him make an announcement fully explaining it later in the week.
As for the new mod position, we didn't have anyone apply that the staff and myself are 100% comfortable with, so we won't be adding any new mods at this time. Sorry to those who applied.
I applied to be a moderator for the league before it teamed up with gbhq. Rizzano posted a thread on GBHQ asking for help with his league and I obliged. I don't honestly recall whether or not I was accepted
then, but it's one of the reasons I was accepted as a moderator when GBGL became its own thing.

ah, thanks. i didn't realise that caz and rizz merged two different projects like that.
interesting drama that went on back in the day:
QUOTE
http://www.planet1337.com/wormsfiles/index...und#Gunbound-HQPlanetGunbound held a long-standing feud against Gunbound fanpage Gunbound-HQ for the very simple reason that it was another Gunbound fan page competing for hits. When their admin, Cazesudo, later turned out to be a grumpy no-life fatass with an inflated ego, the hatred against GBHQ was seen as a self-fulfilling prophecy, thus further justified and put into action by means of several Goatse raids.
Although nobody would've ever argued for PGB's virtually nonexistent Gunbound content, it was largely seen as the superior site because it had less faggots on the forum, a prettier design and animated banners ^___^. yea, right....
EDIT: oh hey, look at this. caz resurfaced in june and was trying to start a pangya fansite. and he just happened to bump into llatimer in a public thread. oO

Personally I don't miss the game, I more miss the community. Not to say the community here is pretty good without the game, but it used to be better. Back when I started gbgl-hq I really didn't love the game as much as the idea of bringing people together for a league, and let's face it, the idea of the league would not have taken off like it did had Caz not given his seal of approval when he closed down gunbound-hq. Still, I do miss the occasional game, but not the way it is now.

I miss talking to everyone on vent while playing the game. That was the best. It made GB less of a chore especially since we really didn't care if we were winning or losing.

No idea about now, but last I heard from him was on YTMND in 2006.

Hello Mezzaninex,
Thank you for your kind message. I have received several messages now through ytmnd from users wondering if I am the same Oddity/ROY4L that appears in many online games. Its true. Back in 2002-2004 we formed the internet social group "Oddity" and decided to invade each of several of the big online community games. It was a lot of fun. In conjunction we joined many of the forum communities for these games and experimented with each of us taking on a certain type of character and toying with the community dynamic (I think this is why my user name is often recognized here [?]). We basically stopped this sort of group online game activity about a year ago now, although we do still participate on occassion.
My main interest in life is self expression, particularly sound and visual art. Right now, Im flirting with the idea of repeating the above sort of experiment, but instead of the gaming environment, invading the online art communities. This is what brings me to ytmnd.
Take care.
What a fucking boss.

gb is online, regardless of any updates. vent is still available, no reason you all can't decide on a time to hop on and just play some 2v2 or 4v4.
I miss playing with a lot of the older players, but I still play gb when I have time. You don't have to win to have a good time, you don't have to charge to win, just have fun, and knowing that the way you play is fair is good enough for me.
anyway, if anyone decides to play some gb, to rehash some of that burned in gb technical data, like myself, I'm still on GBWC.

new gb mechanics are so broken its not the same, and because of this, to most everyone - its not worth it.
original gbwc during the prix is probably the only version anyone is interested in playing.

If the information that has been burned into my brain works on gunbound classic, I'm sure the mechanics are still the same. For the most part anyway.
the game is still fun, it's just the people in it that get boring. need some old friends back.

everyone there is retarded (GIS)got so many retarded rules. you got people that use both unfair bots and item 2 . then you got people that use the unfair bots and of course the only way to beat a pheonix is use item 2 then they go DUDE ITEM 2! Keep in mind, I don't charge cash so i only can use the crappy gold item 2 they have , like far walk or some really weak item . now with nukes and other retarded items I cant imagine what kind of games there are gonna be.
GBA , kyalon.net is the way to go. no item 2 or shitty new bots and they are planning on adding mirror into it. only problem is the language barrier but that's hardly a problem since that's where lots of the "old school players" play now.
